Playing With The Cats At SPCA
After we handed the dove to the SPCA staff, mum and I spent some time playing with the cats at SPCA. Look, I was surrounded by cats!
Auntie Yin would love these cats! Too bad I couldn't bring one home. I really like a cat called Chase and a small kitten.
We spent quite a long time there. The cats were smart and alert. Hope they find good homes soon!

Bird Rescue!
Helping A Spotted Dove
It was a really WINDY day.
Mum went out to buy some food and saw a young bird in the grass patch with tall trees. It could not fly and was helpless. She rushed home to get a box and I went with her to rescue the bird.
We guessed that the young bird fell from its nest. Mum said it probably had not learnt to fly yet. She was worried that the cats would get the bird.
We called SPCA after taking the bird home. As we were going off on holiday and could not care for the bird till it could fly, SPCA told us to bring the bird in.
We went to SPCA in a cab. The cab driver thought we were nuts to rescue a bird.
SPCA said if the bird was well, it would care for it till it could fly. But if it was badly hurt, it might have to be put down.
We thought the bird did not look injured and hope it would fly one day.
That was an interesting day. After that, we went to look at the dogs and play with the cats at SPCA.
By the way, mum said that this was the kind of spotted dove her mother (my grandma who died when I was 3 months old) had as a pet. It made nice cooing sounds, she said.

Up Close & Personal With Grasshoppers
Meet Pelvis, The Grasshopper
Elvis was the first grasshopper we found eating our bean plant leaves. We caught it. It was big. Dad said it needed space to jump, so we released it.
Then came Pelvis. He was a lot smaller when mum captured it. He tried to leap but its hind leg was caught by the edge of the container. The hind limb ripped off! Mum felt very bad and decided to keep it as a pet.
It ate like mad. And moulted three times! Here's the "shell" from its second moult.
It was amazing! The shell was exactly Pelvis, minus one missing limb. Even the antennae were there! Also, it always emerged so much larger!
Here's the last moult. It's missing limb did not grow back again. It had a funny green blob on one of its wings. It turned out very different looking.
Mum said since its wings were out, it was time to release it. Pelvis should be looking for a mate.
It was really cool watching Pelvis! Best science lesson on life cycle of a grasshopper!
p.s We did not even know grasshoppers pooped but yes, Pelvis pooped a lot!

Identity Revealed
I'm A Shark.....Or Not
Unlike humans, sharks have rows of teeth. And since my permanent teeth kept erupting behind my baby teeth before they fell out, I'm a SHARK!
But no more soon.
The school dental nurse discovered my identity. She sent me to the National Dental Centre to get my teeth issues ironed out.
The dentist there sent me for an X-ray of my teeth.
They put me in a protective apron while they took the X-ray.
I could see the rest of my permanent teeth and they are sitting right under by baby teeth. So they should be coming out fine, mum said.
Meanwhile, the dentist is trying to get the rest of my teeth that have erupted pushed out and aligned.

Giant Bean Pod!
Yes! My Bean Plant's Got A Pod!
My first bean plant grown from the kidney bean that my science teacher gave me died because of a plant disease. But Joy was very nice to give me two kidney beans, and mum and I grew them. We left them in our old house when we moved and thought they would die, but they survived a week without watering! Mum quickly brought them to our new place and they really flourished. We've got flowers and yes, a giant pod on one of them!
Our neighbour who helps us water the plants (we call her auntie) keeps asking mum if the bean can be eaten.
By the way, the grasshoppers love eating the bean leaves. We caught one, Elvis, but released it. Elvis was quite a big grasshopper. After Elvis, we caught another smaller grasshopper on our bean plant. Its name is Pelvis and it's our pet now. Will post pictures of Pelvis soon. There is a third grasshopper. We named it Melvis but it has not been captured yet.

Sunny Sentosa!
Sun, Sand, Sea &....Snake!
Taking a break from the books during the September school break, my friends and I went to Sentosa. All of us tried the Luge for the first time. Our mums were more scared than us! Haha! My mum said she would never take the sky lift again!
The animal show at the amphitheatre was really good because the presenter, Joshua, was so entertaining. He rocks!
We all got to touch the python at the end of the show. Nice!
It was fun playing in the sea, too.
Unfortunately, Isaiah and family had to go off first after dinner.
We went across the the rope bridge to the southern most point of the Asia continent. That was a really nice walk to end the evening!
